Pebblecut

Pebblecut is among the blends McClelland produced for Ashton. Per its description, the mixture contains Carolina's mottled red leaf, small-leaved Oriental tobaccos from Macedonia, nutty-character bright Virginia, and Louisiana Perique. The leaf is pressed and broken into small pieces, giving it a pebble-like look somewhere between flake and ribbon.

In the smoke, Virginia's tangy-sweet axis is pronounced; the Oriental tobaccos add a spicy sharpness, and the Perique adds a dark-fruit depth. Body is medium. Suited to smokers who find straight Virginia insufficiently layered and want Oriental tobacco alongside a Virginia-Perique axis. Records indicate the blend was occasionally sold in bulk as well. McClelland stopped production in 2018.
