Ringlow - Syrian Reserve

Ringlow Syrian Reserve is an English blend built from Virginia, Oriental tobacco, and Latakia, offered as ribbon cut in a 50-gram tin. The "Syrian Reserve" in the name indicates the blend's Latakia is Syrian rather than Cyprian in origin. Syrian Latakia gives a milder, more incense-like, sweeter smokiness than Cyprian Latakia, which lets the Virginia sweetness underneath and the Oriental leaf's spice stand without being pushed down.

McClelland set aside its Syrian Latakia stock before the 2004 fire that destroyed most of the world's supply, and used this leaf in a limited number of blends over the years. As the firm's Syrian Latakia stock ran out, Ringlow Syrian Reserve was withdrawn from the market and discontinued entirely with the 2018 closure.
