Royal Cajun Special

Royal Cajun Special is the lightest member of McClelland's series built on the Cajun Black component. The mixture combines two separate stoved Virginias with a tangy-sweet, lemon-yellow Virginia leaf and the smoky, sharp-character Cajun Black. Cajun Black is a component made by smoking Virginia-seed leaf and then fermenting it in a barrel in the Perique manner.

In the smoke, Virginia's bright, citrusy tang dominates; Cajun Black adds a woody, smoky layer on top. Body is at the lightest end of the series and suits daytime smoking. Suited to smokers wanting to start the series from the beginning, or to try the fermented leaf in a measured dose. McClelland stopped production in 2018.
