St. James Woods is a Virginia-Perique blend in McClelland's Personal Reserve line. Red and stoved Virginia leaves are presented as broken flake; the Louisiana Perique share in the mixture is considerable. Turkish-language sources note that resting the tin for two to three days after opening settles the moisture and flavor.
In the smoke, mature Virginia's sweetness interweaves with Perique's dark-fruit, spicy sharpness; body runs medium to full. The high Perique share can weigh on you with repeated, long smoking sessions. Suited to smokers wanting a pronounced Perique presence along the Virginia-Perique axis. McClelland stopped production in 2018.
