Kendals Dark

Kendals Dark is a dark blend produced by Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. in Kendal and sold in bulk at McGahey The Tobacconist. Fire-cured dark Kentucky leaf carries most of its weight, giving an earthy, nutty, smoky, and lightly spiced taste. Virginia, staying in the background, adds a tangy, lightly fermented fruit quality to the blend.

The nicotine load is high; smoking it in a small-chambered pipe on a full stomach is a customary approach for this type of blend. Geared toward experienced smokers accustomed to unflavored, dark, strong English tobaccos; it will be too heavy for a smoker coming from aromatic blends.
