Syrian Latakia Blend

Syrian Latakia Blend is an English-style blend that German maker Kohlhase & Kopp released in its McLintock line, taking its name from its base leaf. It is noted as one of the few blends still using Syrian latakia during a period when Cyprus latakia had become widespread; the latakia is joined by burley and virginia. The leaf is coarse cut and suited to being loaded at the moisture level it comes out of the pack.

Syrian latakia gives a less coal-like, sweeter, spicier smoke than the Cyprus version; the burley base adds a nutty body to the blend, while virginia leaves a measured sweetness in the background. Suitable for smokers accustomed to English and Balkan styles who don't mind a heavy tin note.
