Herbst 84

Herbst 84 is an entry reflecting the Motzek workshop's classic English blend approach. Bright and red Virginia leaves build the base, select Oriental tobaccos add a spicy, dry top layer, and Latakia draws the smoky frame. The Latakia proportion is not kept high enough to overwhelm the blend; the spice is present but not overpowering.

The blend is reported to have been created during Herbert Motzek's time, and the date in its name refers to that period. The ribbon cut gives a slow, cool burn; nicotine sits from light toward medium. A fitting entry for smokers looking for the smoky side of Latakia-containing blends without wanting to venture into heavy Balkan-type compositions. No flavor casing is used; the taste comes entirely from the leaf composition.
