Kieler Foerde is a blend named after the Kiel fjord, representing the Latakia-heavy wing of the Motzek workshop. Records indicate roughly two-thirds of the composition is Latakia; the remainder consists of fine Oriental leaves and perique. The blend's distinguishing feature is that it contains no Virginia: the base sweetness layer typical of British-origin Balkan mixtures is absent here, so the smoky, spicy side comes forward directly.
Perique adds a fruity, peppery depth to the Oriental leaf's dry spice; in the absence of Virginia the blend builds a dry, smoky, sharp profile. Though nicotine stays at a medium level, flavor intensity is high, making this an entry geared toward smokers accustomed to Latakia. The product is released in 100-gram tins and pouches; a later revised version under the name 2.0 also entered the catalogue.
