Tom-A-Hawk

Tom-A-Hawk is among the Motzek workshop's blends built on a virginia-perique core. Records indicate it combines Ugandan and Malawian-origin virginias with dark-fired virginias from India, joined by roughly 20 percent perique and a very small amount of latakia. Unlike the workshop's mostly plug- and twist-focused product range, it is presented as a loose ribbon cut.

In the cold scent, the smokiness of latakia and dark-fired leaf is faintly perceptible. In the smoke, Virginia's sweetness stays dominant while perique adds pepper and a light fruit acidity; since the latakia proportion is far below that of an English blend, it adds depth without taking over the profile. Strength sits in the light-to-medium band. Suitable for smokers looking for a virginia-perique blend with a smoky touch that doesn't push latakia to the forefront.
