1810 Belfast is a current blend referencing Murray, Sons & Co's founding year of 1810. A Virginia-and-Burley-forward body, sweetened with black cavendish, has a very small amount of latakia added; a light sauce is applied on top. The result is a low-nicotine, easy-burning American-type mixture that sits at the edge of both aromatic and English blends.
The original factory in Belfast closed in 2005; today the brand is under the Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and according to the tin information, it is produced in Denmark and packaged in the United States. Suited to smokers looking to get their first taste of Latakia, or wanting a very faint smoky note over a sweet body.
