Jack's Shanty

Jack's Shanty is a cigar-leaf blend prepared for the New York Pipe Club, based on the personal recipe of the club's founder, Sailorman Jack. Its base is built from lemony and red Virginia leaves; a considerable share of Latakia and Perique is added on top, and the blend is rounded out with shredded cigar leaf. The dry jar aroma is sweet in a way reminiscent of English and Balkan-style mixtures, and the cut is classic ribbon.

In the smoke, Virginia and Latakia lead, while the cigar leaf adds a dark, meaty undertone that pulls the blend toward a salty, smoky direction. The smoke is dense and full; nicotine and flavor sit above medium. Suitable for smokers accustomed to Latakia blends who are looking for the heavy tones of cigar leaf; it will be too strong for beginners.
