St. Bruno is a classic English blend that Liverpool-based Ogden's has produced since the late nineteenth century. Its body is made of bright Virginia and dark-fired Kentucky leaf; the mixture is steam-pressed into flake form. In the 1920s a ready-rubbed version was added alongside the flake, with an appearance somewhere between broken flake and ribbon cut. Records indicate production moved to Denmark's Mac Baren starting in 2006, with the brand fully transferred to that firm in 2015; even so, the blend's origin is English.

In the smoke, Kentucky's smoky, woody body balances Virginia's sweetness. The casing leaves a floral, fruity top note reminiscent of the English Lakeland tradition, with a noticeable citrus edge. Nicotine and body are medium, and it burns cool. Suitable for those looking for pressed English flakes, a smoky-sweet balance, and classic blends with a light casing.
