Dark Flake

Dark Flake is the classic flake tobacco of the Copenhagen-based My Own Blend line. Its body is built from matured dark Virginia leaves, joined by fire-cured Kentucky and a share of cavendish, then pressed and sliced. The Kentucky share gives the blend an earthy, lightly smoky depth, while Virginia provides a bready, dried-fruit-like natural sweetness.

Rubbed between the fingers before lighting, the slices burn slowly and coolly. Flavoring is next to none, so it's aimed at smokers accustomed to flake tobaccos who want a straightforward Virginia character. The brand descends from the personal-blending tradition Paul Olsen began at his Copenhagen shop in 1939, and the blends are now offered through The Danish Pipe Shop in Copenhagen.
