No. 111 is the flake in Danish Paul Olsen's My Own Blend line. North Carolina-sourced Virginia leaves form the base, joined by perique and fire-cured Kentucky. Straight out of the tin, the moisture level is ready for smoking; the slices catch easily and burn evenly with little intervention.
The taste is full and the strength moderate; amid Virginia's natural, measured sweetness, a note recalling bergamot and perique's spice appear in turn, with a light sharpness felt on the retrohale. It suits smokers looking for a balanced Virginia flake where perique doesn't dominate.
