Cambridge Flake

Cambridge Flake is an English-type leaf blend Peretti offers among its pressed and sliced tobaccos. Oriental leaf and a measured proportion of Latakia are added to a Virginia base; records indicate the Latakia proportion is kept lower than the house's darker English mixtures, letting the Oriental's spicy, resinous side come through without pushing the smoky character forward. Being a pressed slice, it has a slow burn rate and the leaf needs to be opened by hand before packing.

The body sits a little above medium; it suits smokers who don't want to give up on Latakia entirely but find dark Balkan mixtures too heavy. The slice form allows the tobacco to be stored in a jar for a long time, with Virginia's sugar becoming more pronounced over time.
