Oriental No. 40 is Peretti's blend built entirely from Near Eastern-origin leaf. Per the maker's own description, no tobacco from other regions is used in the mixture, so the oriental leaf's distinctive tart, resinous, and spicy character comes through undiluted. It is ribbon cut, and this low-moisture leaf group catches quickly.

In terms of body, oriental blends are generally not nicotine-heavy; the fullness here comes from flavor intensity. It's aimed at smokers who want a profile far sharper than plain Virginia, without latakia, and who want to get to know the oriental leaf on its own.
