Latakia Flake

Peter Heinrichs Latakia Flake is a pressed slice tobacco prepared from Cyprus Latakia, American dark-fired Kentucky, and African-origin Virginia leaf. Per the maker's account, Kentucky and Virginia are put through a double fermentation to bring out their natural sweetness, and only then combined with Latakia; the mixture is pressed for fourteen days.

Before pressing, rose, cinnamon, and coriander oil are added to the blend; these additions leave a fine spice layer over the smoky base. It is a full-bodied slice with high flavor intensity; smoke comes forward on the first draw. It is a record aimed at smokers interested in heavy-bodied flakes with a pronounced Latakia proportion who are used to rubbing out slices.
