Amsterdam Shag No. 93

Amsterdam Shag No. 93 is a very finely cut shag blend from the Danish brand Peter Stokkebye. In the composition, Virginia leaf lays down a base recalling grass, wood, and light bitter orange; fire-cured Kentucky and Burley leaf add a nutty, earthy, spicy depth. Though the brand originates in Denmark, this series has long been produced in the United States.

Because the very fine cut catches fire quickly and burns fast, moistening the tobacco before packing and packing it loosely helps balance the burn rate. Body and nicotine are medium. It suits smokers experienced with fine cuts who are seeking a near-unflavored everyday blend; the same tobacco is also used for rolling cigarettes.
