De Luxe Navy Rolls

De Luxe Navy Rolls is prepared from hand-selected Brazilian and African Virginias pressed together with Louisiana Perique into a rope, then sliced into coin-shaped rounds. The blend comes from the Dunhill catalog; after Dunhill stopped producing pipe tobacco, it was continued under the Peterson name with the recipe and tin artwork preserved.

The smoke is medium-bodied. Virginia's ripe sugar opens with honey and citrus-peel associations; Perique adds depth in the direction of plum, pepper, and fermented fruit. The burn is slow and cool. It suits smokers familiar with Virginia-Perique blends who are used to rubbing out the coin slices and who age their tobacco.
