Fisherman's Love Navy

The navy-tinned member of Planta's Fisherman's Love line is a flavored blend combining coarsely cut golden Virginia leaf with a small amount of broken Burley flake. The cut isn't uniform: ribbon and broken flake sit together, and the distribution of components in the tin may not be even, with Burley usually concentrated toward the bottom. Opening the tin, the dominant scent leans toward honey and citrus; since it arrives quite moist, airing before smoking draws back some of both the scent and the moisture.

In the smoke, the first puffs are distinctly sweet, recalling a honey-and-orange combination; after a few puffs Burley kicks in, subduing the sweetness and adding a dry, lightly bitter body to the blend. Strength falls between light and medium, but it carries more nicotine than its sweet aroma suggests.
