Sir William

Sir William is one of Rattray's ready-rubbed, loose-cut blends. Select Virginia leaf forms the main body; dark-fired Kentucky and Burley of Indian and Thai origin are added, with a light whisky flavoring applied on top.

Virginia's sweetness sets the blend's balance, while Kentucky adds a smoky, full ground and Burley a nutty mellowness. Flavoring is at a low level and doesn't overshadow the tobacco taste; it is full-bodied in nicotine. It suits smokers who stay close to unflavored blends but want a subtle aromatic touch. The Rattray name draws on the Scottish pipe-tobacco tradition; the brand's tobaccos are produced today in Germany.
