Black and Gold

Black & Gold is a ribbon-cut flavored blend prepared from Virginia leaf and vanilla-cased black Cavendish, with Turkish-Oriental tobacco and Louisiana Perique added. Reports place it among the brand's earliest recipes dating back to 1848, and it is one of McConnell's few flavored products. The brand is produced in Germany today.

The vanilla flavoring is pronounced but does not fully mask the tobacco base; Virginia's sweetness and the plum and pepper notes from Perique show through beneath the casing, while the Oriental leaf adds a light spice layer. Nicotine is low, and the smoke is light and sweet. It suits smokers who enjoy flavored blends but still want real tobacco flavor to come through.
