Folded Flake is an unflavored blend, cut into thin slices, made by pressing two separate Virginia leaves together with dark-fired Kentucky and Perique. Adding Kentucky to the classic Virginia-Perique framework pushes the blend toward a darker, woodier place than the style's usual examples.
The tin note carries ripe plum and a vinegary sharpness. In the smoke, Virginia's sweetness is softened by Kentucky's earthy smokiness, and Perique's spicy-tangy layer comes forward on the finish. Strength is medium. It suits smokers used to flake packing who want an unflavored, spicy Virginia blend.
