Kentucky is an unflavored product from Robert McConnell's single-varietal line, made entirely of Kentucky tobacco. This dark-fired Burley type is known for its smoke, soot, and earthy-spice tones; it has no sweet side, and its taste is dry and deep.
Nicotine is high, so smoking it on its own calls for experience. Its main use is as a body and strength component in the hands of home blenders: added to Virginia-heavy mixtures, it balances the sweetness and adds fullness to the smoke. The brand was founded in London in 1848; production continues today in Germany.
