Latakia Mixture 1848 is an English blend in Robert McConnell's Heritage line. It contains bright and red Virginia grades along with a generous amount of Latakia; with no Oriental leaf used, the taste rests on the contrast between smoke and Virginia sweetness. The blend was previously sold under a different name before being reissued under this one, a nod to the brand's founding year.
The ribbon-cut leaf lights easily; flavor intensity is high and nicotine medium. It is prepared for smokers looking for an unflavored, classic-style, Latakia-heavy mixture. The Heritage line is produced by the Kohlhase & Kopp blenders in Germany, following old English recipes.
