Pure Perique

Pure Perique is a single-component, ribbon-cut product made entirely of Perique leaf. As part of Robert McConnell's line of pure components for blending, it is prepared to be added to existing mixtures rather than smoked on its own. No flavoring is applied.

Perique is a tobacco fermented under pressure in Louisiana, known for its peppery sharpness and dark fruit tones, and it is high in nicotine. The product is reported to come out of the tin oily and moist, needing to dry before use. It is a component used in small proportions by smokers building their own Virginia-Perique blends.
