The Original Pure Kentucky

Pure Kentucky is a product from Robert McConnell's "Pure" series made entirely of Kentucky leaf. Kentucky comes from the Burley family and is prepared by dark-fire curing, a process that gives the leaf a smoky, sooty, spicy character and considerable fullness.

It is among the heaviest members of the series in nicotine; it is not well suited to smoking on an empty stomach or at a fast pace. It can be smoked alone, but reports indicate its main purpose is blending: added in small amounts, it lends depth, smoke, and body to Virginia- or Oriental-heavy blends. The brand is Belfast in origin; production today takes place in Germany.
