Bothy Flake is produced by pressing Virginia and latakia leaves into flake form and then flavoring with Scotch Highland malt whisky. The blend was prepared for the Kearvaig Pipe Club, founded in 2012 at the Kearvaig bothy on Scotland's north coast.
It is a product falling into the flavored-English-blend class, with a fine whisky casing riding atop the smoky latakia character. Suited to smokers who love Latakia-bearing blends and want a light top note over it; because of the flake presentation, packing and lighting call for care.
