Perfection

Perfection is a ribbon-cut English blend Samuel Gawith produces in Kendal. Its composition holds Virginia, Izmir-type Oriental leaf, and Latakia; a fine vanilla casing is also applied to the blend. According to the producer's account, the blend was prepared for a local smoker who couldn't find a tobacco to his taste, and satisfaction with the result became the source of the product's name. The Virginia leaf is steam-processed; this treatment preserves the leaf's grassy character while cooling the smoke.

At the center of the flavor line sits the Oriental leaf's spicy, creamy tone; Virginia contributes sweetness, and Latakia adds a measured smokiness. The vanilla casing is not dominant enough to place the blend in the aromatic class, only sharpening the sweetness. Nicotine is in the light-to-medium range. Fits smokers newly approaching Latakia or seeking an Oriental-forward, undemanding English blend.
