Mississippi River is among the best known of Seattle Pipe Club's Virginia-forward entries. Rich Virginia leaves are pressed into a cake; Oriental leaf, a pinch of Latakia, and Perique are added as accents. The Latakia share is not high enough to place the blend in the English class, only adding a smoky shade; the Perique opens up a plum-and-spice direction.

According to the brand's account, the recipe's main line is based on a draft blendmaster Joe Lankford jotted down one night. The intense flavor that emerges after pressing preserves the Virginia base while also bringing out the layers of the accent leaves. Suited to smokers who love the sweetness of Virginia blends and want a measured smokiness and spice alongside it.
