Virginia Jazz

Virginia Jazz is Seattle Pipe Club's entry on the Virginia-perique wing. Red Virginia leaf aged for roughly a decade is joined by a notable share of Acadian perique and stoved Virginia; the mixture is pressed and presented as a crumble cake. The cake is broken into dark mahogany discs about the size of a tea biscuit and prepared by crumbling by hand.

The tin note carries a vinegary tartness along with raisin, paper, and sweet wood traces. On the smoke, the mature Virginia's bready, dark-sugar base is constant; the perique opens up toward the middle of the bowl, adding a counterpoint of raisin, date, and pepper. Suited to smokers who enjoy unflavored, sweet-and-sour Virginia blends and cake-format tobaccos.
