Great Hiatus

Great Hiatus is one of the club blends prepared for the Sherlock Holmes Pipe Club (SHPC). It takes its name from the three-year interval during which Holmes was believed to have died at the Reichenbach Falls, ending with The Adventure of the Empty House. It is a classic English mixture built from Virginia, Oriental leaf, and a high proportion of Latakia; it stays close to old-school English recipes.

On the smoke, Latakia's campfire-like smoke and a peaty undertone lead; the toasted, measured sweetness of the Virginia and Oriental leaves balances this, and the character changes little across the bowl. Nicotine and flavor intensity stay in the medium range. Suited to people accustomed to smoking unflavored, smoky English mixtures throughout the day. As a club blend, its distribution is limited.
