SØRENSEN Flake is one of two house blends bearing the name of Sørensen Tobakk, which has operated on Bergen's Torgallmenningen square since 1905. Dark Virginia and fire-cured dark leaves are pressed and sliced, with Perique grown in a small region of Louisiana giving the blend Kentucky-style spice.
It offers an unflavored, intense taste born of pressing; the retailer's scale rates its strength four out of five. Once the slices are rubbed out and aired before packing, dark Virginia sweetness, Kentucky's smoky tone, and Perique's peppery fruitiness come through in sequence. It suits smokers who like strong, unflavored flake and are used to a heavy nicotine load.
