Rose & Crown

Rose & Crown is an aromatic blend from the Denmark-based Stanwell brand, offered as an "Easy Flake." Dark cavendish leaf is combined with burley and Virginia and re-pressed; the black cavendish portion undergoes an additional fermentation. Per the maker's description, the blend is flavored with cinnamon, mirabelle plum, and Jamaican rum. Because pressing is kept loose, the slices break apart easily by hand and reach a consistency that burns without needing to be packed tight in the bowl.

On the palate, fruity sweetness leads from start to finish; the plum note lasts through most of the smoke, while cinnamon provides a background spice. Nicotine is low, flavor intensity is medium, and since it burns cool, tendency to bite the tongue is limited. Suited to aromatic smokers wanting to get accustomed to the flake form without dealing with dense, hard-pressed slices.
