Gentleman's Mixture Original

Sullivan & Powell was a tobacconist established in London's Burlington Arcade, blending tobacco, according to records, since the 1880s. Gentleman's Mixture was the house's classic Virginia-oriental mixture; prepared with leaf from various regions, it combined mature Virginia's sweetness with oriental leaf's spicy, sharp character. Though the firm's leaf list did not specify latakia, smokers' accounts point to the presence of a smoky component.

The mixture has long been out of production and is now found only in old, sealed tins. It appealed to experienced pipe smokers seeking a medium-bodied, spicy smoke close to the unflavored, oriental-forward English tradition.
