Backwoods 4x4 Rugged Cut

Backwoods 4x4 Rugged Cut is a Sutliff aromatic prepared, as the "rugged cut" in its name suggests, with a coarse, irregular-piece cut rather than neat ribbon. A burley-forward base is joined by Virginia and black cavendish; its defining topping is vanilla.

Because of the coarse cut, it packs more loosely into the pipe and gives a slow, cool burn. The vanilla topping is heavy but doesn't completely mask the tobacco flavor beneath it; nicotine level is low. Suited to smokers who like vanilla aromatics and prefer working with a coarser-textured tobacco rather than fine ribbon. The blend is no longer in production.
