R-Blend

R-Blend is a multi-component American blend produced at Sutliff's facilities in Virginia. Its base contains burley and Virginia leaf; a small amount of latakia and perique along with pressed leaf are added to build a layered structure. Records indicate the blend brings together a number of taste elements that are hard to pick apart individually; none overpowers the others, so its character is built on a balanced whole rather than one dominant note.

The smoke is soft and measured; nicotine strength stays below medium, and the taste sits close to medium. Because the latakia and perique proportions are kept low, it's also an easy entry point for smokers unfamiliar with English blends. It suits smokers looking for an unflavored blend that can be smoked all day without becoming monotonous. It has been removed from Sutliff's catalog and is not currently in production.
