TS-20 is the pure Louisiana perique product Sutliff sells as a blending component. Perique is a tobacco grown in and unique to the St. James Parish region of Louisiana; after harvest it is packed under pressure in barrels and undergoes heat and fermentation. This process gives the leaf its distinctive peppery, fruity character. Sutliff offers this tobacco ribbon cut.
It is not designed to be smoked on its own; its nicotine and taste intensity are very high. It is generally added in small proportions to Virginia-based blends to bring in spice, plum, and fig notes. It is one of the essential components for smokers who prepare their own blends.
