TS18 Latakia

TS-18 is the pure latakia product Sutliff offers as a blending component. According to the maker's description, it is prepared from long-cut latakia leaves, with a dark casing applied that sweetens and darkens the tobacco. Since latakia is an Oriental leaf cured with fire and smoke, its character comes entirely from that curing process.

The smoke carries a very intense taste leaning toward tar and leather; nicotine stays at a medium level. Rather than being smoked alone, it is used to add a smoky layer to English and Balkan-type mixtures. It is one of the essential components for smokers preparing their own blends.
