TS2 Carolina Flake

TS2 Carolina Flake is a Virginia slice in Sutliff's unflavored-leaf series. No casing is applied; the tobacco's character comes entirely from the leaf's own sugar and from pressing and slicing. The leaf used leans toward bright Virginia rather than dark red, giving the taste a lemony tartness and hay-like sweetness. Thanks to its slice structure, the burn is slow and gives fullness.

The blend is used in two ways: smoked directly, or rubbed out and added to other blends to build volume and Virginia sweetness. Records note it has been used together with Oriental leaves, such as Yenidje ribbons. For those new to unflavored Virginia, drying the slices thoroughly and packing loosely is a practical way to reduce tongue bite.
