Vanilla Maple #131

Vanilla Maple #131 is one of Sutliff's long-running bulk aromatics. Its base contains bright Virginia grades, natural Cavendish, and sun-cured dark leaf of Brazilian origin. A dark casing is applied to the blend; this both darkens the leaf's color and raises its sugar content, letting the vanilla and maple syrup top note settle in.

The resulting profile is sweet but not heavy: maple syrup's caramel-like side and vanilla's creamy side lead, while the tobacco's own taste stays in the background. Nicotine is light. It is a good option for those looking for a sweet, distinctly flavored tobacco and for those starting out on pipes with aromatics. Because of the moisture from the casing, drying it before smoking reduces tongue bite.
