Bad Nun

Bad Nun is a Virginia blend produced for the Synjeco shop in Zurich by the Gawith firm in Kendal. The Virginia leaves used in the base carry a citrusy tartness, dark cooked-fruit sweetness, light grassiness, and a deep earthy note. Over this, a Lakeland flavoring — the signature of the English Lake District tradition — is applied, giving a floral, soapy, and distinctive character.

The blend's Lakeland layer is strong and can overshadow the tobacco's own taste. Nicotine is also high, so it's best smoked slowly and in small amounts. Records note that the companion version, Bad Nun II, uses Perique, and that in this version raisin and plum sweetness stand out more than spice. It is a product intended for smokers familiar with the Lakeland style and used to strong Virginias.
