Clegir Rope

Clegir Rope is one of the rope tobaccos released under its own name by the Cadenazzo-based Swiss firm Synjeco. Records indicate the firm's rope products were twisted at the Gawith Hoggarth facilities in England; Clegir, a thinner-diameter version of the house's thicker rope Oxenfisl, is prepared from different Virginia leaves. It is an unflavored Virginia rope, sliced into discs and rubbed out for packing.

The leaf, tightly twisted into rope form and matured, gives a concentrated taste and a pronounced nicotine load. Smoked slowly, a sweet Virginia core comes through; smoked fast, it can bite the tongue. It suits smokers used to rope and twist tobaccos looking for a strong, unflavored Virginia; it's a heavy smoke for beginners.
