Shamkat

Shamkat is Tabac Benden's blend revisiting the Oriental-forward Krüll tradition common in German-speaking countries before the Second World War. Its name comes from Shamhat in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Selected Lebanese Oriental, chosen for its body and leaf structure, is combined with mature medium-brown Virginias; production takes place at the Dan Tobacco Manufactory in Lauenburg. The cut is loose: the leaves are neither too fine nor too coarse, sitting as large pieces that are easy to pack by ordinary methods.

The taste leans savory-spicy rather than sweet; grassy and floral notes stand out alongside nutty and dry-spice tones, with Virginia providing measured sweetness from behind. The body is light to medium and carries no bitterness. It suits smokers looking for a Latakia-free Oriental blend with low nicotine and a spicy smoke.
