Türk Pipo Tütünü (Turkish Pipe Tobacco) is a domestic product long produced under the Tekel state monopoly and, according to records, on the market since 1933. It is made from Oriental leaf, pressed and packed as flake; per the product description, the pressing is done in cast-iron molds using aged wood. Its flavoring is light, carrying a sweetish trace of honey and carob.
