Turk Pipo Tutunu (Turkish Pipe Tobacco)

Türk Pipo Tütünü (Turkish Pipe Tobacco) is a domestic blend that brings together Oriental leaf from various regions of Turkey, notably tobacco from Yayladağı, Bitlis, İzmir, and Adıyaman. It is pressed into dark-colored flake slices; preparation takes place at the factory in Menemen, İzmir. According to the packaging, small proportions of cavendish along with plum, rum, licorice root, carob, fig extract, and honey casing are used, though the dominant taste on the smoke is the plain tobacco itself.

It is a blend for smokers who want to experience Turkish tobacco's oily, sweet, spicy character directly. It burns slowly, gives a long, cool smoke, and leaves light-colored ash in the bowl. Because it arrives moist and sticky, it needs airing before packing; this resting period affects both the burn and the balance of the casing. The room note is strong and lingering, so smoking indoors should be planned with that in mind.
