Yayladağ Vanilyalı

Officially named Yayladağ No. 2, but commonly called Yayladağ Vanilyalı (Vanilla), this is one of Tabac Turc's flavored Oriental products. Its content is made up of Yayladağı, Bitlis, and İzmir leaf, cased with vanilla, molasses, honey, and alcohol. It is described as a coarse cut, though the cut lengths are uneven and the blend has a high stem content. Because a heavy humectant is used, the tobacco arrives stuck together in a mass in the pack; once separated, its color fades within a few hours and it dries out quickly.

Opening the pack releases an amber, spicy, fruity scent; as it dries, a synthetic vanilla note overtakes the other elements. Once dried, the tobacco is hard to remoisten. It lights slowly on the first pack but burns evenly once lit; the bowl heats up quickly, though without causing tongue bite. The smoke fills the mouth heavily but lacks body. Nicotine is light, and the taste is low in intensity. It stands out for its flavoring and the scent it gives off in the room; it is a blend more likely to be encountered by those wanting to try heavily flavored domestic products than by those seeking an unflavored tobacco taste.
