Pirate's Alley is a Perique-forward Virginia-Perique blend taking its name from the narrow passage in New Orleans's French Quarter. The tobacconist describes the blend as full-bodied and strong; it is ribbon cut.
The grassy, sugary side of the Virginia base is covered over by the plum, fig and peppery spice of the high proportion of Louisiana Perique. Nicotine load and flavor intensity are high, so it suits smoking in small pipes and on a full stomach. Meant for experienced smokers after high-Perique blends.
