G Flake

G Flake is one of the house blends from The Danish Pipe Shop in Copenhagen, released for the shop's 50th anniversary in 2019. Aged Virginia leaf is made into flake and sprayed with real, aged Italian grappa. The idea is traced back to the same house's VV92 blend introduced in 2016 and to the company director Nikolaj Nielsen's interest in grappa.

Grappa's woody, boozy character combines with the Virginia leaf's natural sugar to build a consistent sweet-woody line, a taste that lingers for a while after smoking. It burns clean and relatively slow. Suited to smokers used to working with flake cut and after a very lightly cased Virginia.
