Auenland is an aromatic blend the German maker Vauen, founded in 1848, positions alongside its churchwarden pipe series of the same name; the name comes from the German rendering of the Shire from J. R. R. Tolkien's works. The ribbon-cut blend contains Virginia, black Cavendish and Burley leaf, cased with a fruity casing toward peach and orange.
Nicotine is notably light and the body of flavor is moderate; the blend's center of gravity is the fruit casing. Since it arrives with high moisture from the tin, airing it out briefly before packing helps regulate the burn. A fitting profile for smokers after a low-strength, distinctly fruity European-style aromatic.
